Spinal Fusion
What is Spinal Fusion?
Major surgery which lasts several hours. One piece of bone is taken from a “bone bank”, or from the pelvis. The bone is then used to bridge the vertebrae that are next to each other. In a sense, it is the artificial way to heal back the vertebrae in your spine and thus can make it a long, and arduous recovery procedure.
It’s often used to treat lumbar degenerative disc disease and lumbar spondylolisthesis.
