TLIF (Transforamenal Lumbar Interbody Fusion)

What is TLIF?

This type of surgery is done through the posterior part of the spine. The surgical hardware is applied to the spine to help advance the fusion rate. Pedicle screws and rods are then clipped to the corresponding vertebrae and then an interbody fusion spacer is inserted into the disc from either part of the spine. As the bone graft place heals, it fuses the vertebrae above and below, forming one long bone.
